Nikki & Harry
Where do I start with this one… other than quite simply, I HAD AN ABSOLUTE BLAST. But more importantly, Nikki & Harry did too. Their wedding was at Owlpen Manor, an award winning venue in the Cotswolds with stunning gardens & a great team to match. But what really made this wedding was the energy of the entire wedding party, a real testament to who Nikki & Harry are as people. Such a lovely couple, who were so incredibly excited to marry each other.
When I arrived I’d organised to meet Nikki & the girls upstairs, capturing some of the hair, make up & prosecco moments. Before popping down the hill the capture the same for the boys, which was less make up & more of “how do you do up a tie?” before getting straight back onto the pre-ceremony beers.
They held their ceremony up on the back lawn overlooking the manor. It was one of the hottest days of the summer, which provided a challenge for me on the camera in the intense sun, and also a small challenge for the guests who were melting away in their seats. But they all came prepared, fans in hand, sunglasses & big smiles on their faces. The ceremony was filled with Harry’s “throw head back” laughter & Nikki’s looks of excitement & disbelief.
Post ceremony & confetti, we found a few small shaded areas for some nice couple shots. Nikki & Harry both expressed they didn’t feel that comfortable in front of the camera & didn’t want to spend too much time with these, which is something I hear often from my couples. We captured all the shots that I felt we needed within about 10 minutes, with a quick stop in the middle for some canapes, and had them back to the main gardens to enjoy the sunshine with all of their friends & family.
After some very competitive rounds of Hammerschlagen (I googled that), also known as Stump. We finally managed to round everyone up & into the main barn for dinner & some hilarious speeches, featuring some of Nikki’s tiny toddler shoes that had been kept & presented by her father. Shortly after we seized the golden hour light for some more photos, mainly involving throwing Harry as high as we could (and caught safely) before heading in to the dance floor. An incredible wedding with incredible people, whom I’m very much looking forward to seeing again at their friends Jade & Tommy’s wedding in April!
