Paisley & Ian

Paisley & Ian’s small but beautiful wedding in the heart of Bath city centre was one for the memory books. They chose to get married in the presence of a small handpicked number of friends & family, including their two beautiful children & their dog Megan.

I met Paisley at the Abbey Hotel where she & her children were getting ready. She got the kids dressed & looking super smart, and the kids returned the favour in helping their mum with her shoes & jewellery. Such a smooth family team effort, it really had to be admired.

Ian meanwhile, was waiting across the road & greeting guests. Any nerves were quickly soothed after hugs from his little boy & Megan the dog, who’s arrivals meant Paisley’s walk down the aisle was imminent. Led by her daughter, hand in hand, the family joined at the front of the room & proceeded through the entire ceremony together. Paisley holding hands with her daughter, Ian hugging his son. Megan watching ready with the rings for when she was called upon.

After the ceremony, the entire party walked to the nearby Parade Gardens for more photographs, embracing the beauty of Bath city all around us. As it was an incredibly sunny day, I chose to have the sun behind everyone for the majority of shots. I’ve found its often the best option as it means everyone can smile for the camera without worrying about being blinded by the bright sun. Backlit photos can be edited to taste, scrunched up faces can’t. I’d also picked out a few nicely shaded spots for photos with Paisley & Ian alone before heading back to the celebrations inside. All in all, a really lovely & very relaxed day in Bath with a beautiful family & their friends, and a real pleasure to capture on camera.
